The traditional Blackfoot name of what is now called the City of Calgary is “Mohkinstsis”, which refers to the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers. I acknowledge that I am located on traditional Treaty 7 territory, the homelands of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksiká, Káínaa, Piikani; the Îyârhe Nakoda Nations: Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley; the Tsuut’ina Nation; and the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3. I acknowledge the many generations of Indigenous peoples who have and lived on, cared for and honoured these lands.
